About me
I’m Caroline Irwin, an integrative psychotherapist based in Swords, Co. Dublin, offering counselling in Swords for adults navigating anxiety, depression, past trauma, relationship struggles, and low self-esteem. My approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and collaboration, providing a safe and supportive space where you can explore what’s going on beneath the surface. Some of my clients don’t even realise they’re carrying trauma—they just know something doesn’t feel right, and they want to understand why.
Therapy is about creating a space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported as you begin to make sense of your emotions and experiences. The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of this work, and I tailor each session to meet your individual needs, ensuring emotional safety as we move at a pace that feels right for you. My approach integrates psychodynamic therapy, nervous system regulation, and mindfulness, helping you explore patterns, emotions, and behaviours while developing tools to bring more stability and ease into your daily life. Whether you are looking for psychotherapy in Swords or online therapy options, I am here to help. Therapy isn’t about fixing you—it’s about helping you reconnect with yourself and navigate life with more clarity and confidence.
I began my psychotherapy training back in 2016. I embarked on a diploma in counselling first to be sure it was something I enjoyed learning about, and it turned out to be the beginning of the most incredible journey for me. I began my formal training to become a psychotherapist in 2017, and, since graduating in 2021, I have completed a diploma in trauma-informed psychotherapy and a postgraduate certificate in traumatic stress studies. My particular interest lies in trauma therapy in Swords, with a focus on somatic psychotherapy, and I plan to continue deepening my knowledge and training in this area.
When I am not at work, I enjoy my downtime by going on adventures with my two golden retrievers. I love spending time with those closest to me, and I enjoy travelling and learning new skills and hobbies.
